The Fiber Arts Center is excited to introduce Donna Estin to you and for you to learn about her story as a contemporary Knitwear Designer.

Donna’s story is the third of our four videos from the, “FACES Oral History Series, Part 2”,  chronicling the fiber arts journeys of some incredible makers from the Eastern Shore of Maryland.  These stories are made possible by a grant from the Maryland Heritage Area Authority through the Eastern Shore Heritage, Stories of the Chesapeake.  All four of the stories are posted to the “Home” page of our website www.fiberartscenter.com.

You can watch Donna’s story on our YouTube Channel at this active link.https://youtu.be/3lgM2nwQVCs?si=531lhUA6LIBlWTp4

Where in the world is the Fiber Arts Center now?

Victoria McConnell’s beautiful quilts make an eye-popping backdrop for the band Tom Mindty and the Patuxent Partners at the Fine Bluegrass on Second Sunday Afternoon’s through the Eastern Shore Bluegrass Association. There are 8 more monthly performances left through Mother’s Day 2024 and all of the concerts are held at the American Legion Post, 9238 Legion Rd., in Denton.  For more information, go to https://www.facebook.com/Eastern-ShoreBluegrassAssociation. November’s concert will feature Alice Engle’s quilts as the stage backdrop for the band Acoustic Turnpike.  If you would like to sign up to share your quilts as a one-time, concert backdrop, please contact Kathleen McCulloch in the Fiber Arts Center’s office info@fiberartscenter.com

For the upcoming holidays, the Fiber Arts Center is very excited to present “Twas The Night Before Christmas”, an amazing quilt exhibit which will begin Nov. 1 and will continue through Jan. 13, 2024.

Curated by quilt historian, Sue Reich from Washington Depot, Conn., the exhibit features miniature quilts that have been made to interpret stanzas from Clement C. Moore’s poem, ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas”, penned 200 years ago as a gift for his children on December 24th. Ten generations of children have been charmed by this magical poem of the gift of Saint Nicholas. The poem’s 28 stanzas were chosen by quilt historians and artists to recreate their special Yuletide memories of childhood. The challenge was to incorporate a miniature quilt within the larger quilt. May these quilts bring smiles and cherished memories of your own special Christmases and inspire you to keep quilts in Christmas!

There will be a member’s and friend’s reception at the Fiber Arts Center on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023 from 12:00 – 4:00pm.

The exhibit is free of charge and is open during our normal hours Weds. – Saturdays, 12:00 – 4:00pm.
