June is upon us and with it has brought the sadness of the passing of our good friend and board member, Marilyn Ziegler. Our thoughts and sympathies are with her family during this trying time. She brought lots of joy and laughter to our hearts during the time that she had with us. We want to celebrate her life with her many talents – painting, pottery, quilting and knitting that she loved. We love you, Marilyn!
June also brought the completion of the front porch railings! Not only is it much safer to traverse up and down the front entrance but it actually looks a lot larger! Thank you to all the wonderful members who supported us in so many ways. We could not have completed this without you!!!
There are a few more days to see Pat Tucker’s exhibit with her antique quilts and her own works of art! Then Laura Boehl’s creative quilts will be coming in July. Lots and lots of new lovely material, books and kits on the sale tables are waiting for your perusal.
I also want to mention a little-known hero of the Fiber Arts Center, Cameron Wynn, Cathy Spence’s grandson. He comes faithfully to mow and weed whack the grass around the building. He makes sure that the walkways are clear of any slippery leaves and this week he even took a power washer to the ramp in the back as it was getting a little slick. Unlike so many of his age of 12, who shy away from hard work, Cameron has taken the Fiber Arts Center’s outside appearance on as his personal responsibility. Thank you, Cameron from all of us. We truly appreciate all your hard work!
Be safe, eat a vegetable, smile at a child, stay hydrated, wear a hat.
From May 4-July 2, the Fiber Arts Center of the Eastern Shore will be featuring the Patricia Tucker Quilt Exhibit: For the Love of Quilts- The Stories Behind the Stitches.”
Mrs. Tucker is a local quilter who belongs to the Heartland Quilt Guild and has been quilting for over 30 years. She believes that every quilt has its own story. She feels that as much as our Creator leaves His mark on each of us, a quilt-maker’s life and circumstances are often woven within the details of their renderings. She loves the mystery involved in revealing clues and insights found within the stitches and takes great joy in pondering the who’s, what’s, when’s, where’s, how’s and why’s of each maker and piece; many times discovering the extraordinary among the ordinary!
Come join us to enjoy viewing these legacies and pondering the stories
behind the stitches!
