Some ideas hit you out of the blue. Others, like this one, take a little more time to evolve.
Four years ago, the Denton Development Corporation was securing funding to rehabilitate the Hardee House, part of Denton’s historic and Arts & Entertainment districts. The Heartland Quilt Guild was hosting its first Shop Hop. And the Caroline County Council of Arts was turning the building at 401 Market Street into the Foundry, a community arts center that houses a gallery of Caroline County artists’ work.
Those three groups held the threads that were already starting to weave together the Fiber Arts Center of the Eastern Shore. When everyone realized how well this would fit into the Denton Arts & Entertainment and Historic districts, the project turned into a vague abstraction into a plan on paper. Today we stand in front of the building, those plans on paper have turned very much into reality.
So it is with great joy that I welcome you all to the grand opening of the Fiber Arts Center of the Eastern Shore.
