Decorate Your Holiday Table – Beginner Friendly

“It’s easy to go crazy!” Come learn the Crazy Shortcut Quilts method, created by Marguerita McManus & Sarah Raffuse.  Quilt as you go and finish in half the time.  We will combine the layers of the runner and mats into small, manageable sections, which requires virtually no precise measuring or cutting.  Your sewing machine and it’s decorative stitches do all of the quilting – no quilting skills needed, making this technique perfect for beginners and new comers to quilting. Participants will complete one table runner and 6 place mats in this class. Table Runner  55″ x 19″, Place Mats  14″ x 19″.

What you need to bring:

Top squares: 10 fat quarters (18″ x 22″)  OR you may choose 1/2 yard cuts of (5) different fabrics. Note:  to achieve the Crazy Quilt look you need at least (5) different fabrics

Backing fabric: 10 fat quarters (18″ x 22″) OR you may choose 2 1/2 yards of one fabric

Binding & sashing: 2 yards of fabric. Note:  remember the binding and sashing will show on both sides of the quilt and should coordinate               with the top and back fabrics.

Batting: 45″ wide – 2 1/2 yards.  Suggested:  a thin, needled cotton batting such as Warm & Natural or Warm & White

Thread: (1) spool of neutral color thread.  i.e. gray, off-white, etc. (2) spools of colored thread (coordinating with your fabrics) for decorative stitching

Sewing Machine with at least one decorative stitch, even if it’s just a simple zigzag stitch

Straight Pins

Helpful, but optional: Rotary cutter, Cutting mat, 6″ x 24″ ruler, Iron, Quilting pins

Class Fee $30

About Your Teacher, Lynn Davis

Lynn Davis has had a love for many fiber arts since childhood.  Quilts are particularly special to her for their rich history and tradition of being stitched with love and out of necessity to keep a family warm.  Lynn’s personal journey with quilts began in 2010 when she joined a local quilt guild.  Her favorite quilts to make are one that are fast, fun and done.  She now enjoys sharing the tips and techniques that she has tried with others, especially beginners, who want to tell their own story and wrap someone else in stitches of love and warmth.
