Dear Members,

Happy Summer Start! The raised garden bed had had the cotton planted and replanted after the squirrels had a feast. The madder plant whose roots are traditionally used for red dye made it through the winter and the Hopi red Amaranth had been planted also. The indigo is planned.

If your plans include traveling this summer, be sure to include the Fiber Arts Center. We have a lovely exhibit featuring Lisa Fields, a well-known quilter from Chestertown. We also have 22 classes listed ready for students, the newest being four classes for young fiber artists and beginning quilters. Alice Kish will be teaching a class too.

Our second floor is sporting two new tables for planning out your newest project and a fiber arts library that is unmatched in the area.

Keep your eyes open in September for some demolition of and construction on the Richard Potter House next door. It will be the first visible steps toward our goals to make this a much-improved center for fiber arts.

Here’s wishing your plans for the summer are coalescing and you are planning to wear wide brimmed hats and sunglasses.

President

The Fiber Arts Center Presents

“My Quilting Journey”
Lisa Fields

“My Quilting Journey”

Lisa Fields began her quilting journey in April of 1990. She describes herself as more of a utilitarian quilter and loves making quilts as gifts for others. She enjoys all aspects of quilting from selection of fabrics to binding the quilts that she stitches. Lisa has taken many quilt workshops through the years and she loves trying out new quilting techniques and styles. Her favorite part of the quilting experience, however, is enjoying the camaraderie of fellow quilters. There’s nothing quite like the sisterhood of quilting that helps to inspire her.

Lisa is presently serving as the President of The Olde Kent Quilt Guild in Chestertown. Lisa’s beautiful quilt exhibit will be on display at the Fiber Arts Center.

We invite you to view Lisa’s quilt exhibit which will be featured from May 3 to July 1. Come and be inspired!
