Dear Members,

Just recently I had the pleasure of watching my 16-month old grandson discover and find the joy in his belly button! Sticking his little belly out as far as he could, he showed it to himself in the mirror and was just dancing, proud of the discovery. Belly button! We all chimed in with him as he grinned at us showing us this new discovery!

We were grins all around and it made me think that we should all appreciate the little things that we have around us with such enthusiasm. Blooming forsythia, just the right amount of thread in the needle, the perfect cup of tea, the centered fussy cut, a beautiful sunset, perfect timing for the mailperson, a precise seam match, new fawn in a far-off field.

We are working at making the Fiber Arts Center just that! Writing grants, meeting with architects and historians, working on classes, creating a world class functional fiber arts library and collaborating with so many of our amazing members and visitors is the start of the vision. We are so delighted to have Christine Kamon’s quilts bring a burst of spring color to our walls. The viewing of her quilts can be added to the list in the previous paragraph. I am sure you can add many joys and personal discoveries beyond those mentioned in the meantime….

Put your hand on your own belly button and remember that there is the joy of discovery everywhere you look.

Victoria McConnell

President

The Fiber Arts Center Presents

“For The Love and Fun of Quilting” Quilt Exhibit

 by Christine Kamon

“For The Love and Fun of Quilting” Quilt Exhibit

 by Christine Kamon

A very special quilt exhibit will grace the Fiber Arts Center gallery from March 1-April 29th. The very beautiful and modern quilts of quilt artist Christine Kamon will help to usher in springtime designs and will provide quilt inspiration to stir your soul.

Christine Kamon has been pursuing her passion for quilting for 30 years.   Based on time honored traditional patterns, her work has a fresh and exciting feel of abstract and original contemporary designs.  She approaches her craft with enthusiasm and creativity at every turn.  With bursts of color and geometric diversity, Christine offers a visual feast for the viewer.

Christine earned a Bachelor of Science in Design and Environmental Analysis at Cornell University.  Her skills in quilt making have developed from taking numerous classes from nationally recognized experts, local teachers,  as well as being self taught using the tried and true method of trial and error.

March 1 – April 29, 2023
Free of charge
