Featured in “Quilt As You Go {Reimagined} by M. McManus & S. Raffuse, this modern looking quilt features a special quilt-as-you-go trick that makes the joining strips disappear. It’s great for using pre-cut fabrics (fat quarters) which can easily be created from yardage in your stash. Whether you are a first-time quilter or a curious seasoned quilter, this quilt will be fast and fun to make!

What you need to bring:

This quilt can be made in two sizes. Fabric List #1 will make a 42″ x 55″ throw. Fabric List #2 will make a larger 52″ x 68″ throw.

Fabric List #1:
18 fat quarters for top and back (9 for the top and 9 for the back).
1 yard for joining strips and binding
3 1/3 yards of batting
OR
9 fat quarters for the top
3 1/3 yards for the backing, joining strips, and binding
3 1/3 yards of batting

Fabric List #2:
32 fat quarters for top and back (16 for the top and 16 for the back).
1 1/2 yards for joining strips and binding
4 1/2 yards of batting
OR
16 fat quarters for the top
4 1/2 yards for the backing, joining strips, and binding
4 1/2 yards of batting

Note: A fat quarter is a piece of fabric that is approximately 18″ x 22″. Two fat quarters can be cut from 1/2 yard of fabric. Many of us have a large stash of fabric and cutting fat quarters from your stash is a great way to use it. The fat quarters for the back of the quilt do not have to coordinate with the front or be from the same fabric collection. Personally, Lynn loves a scrappy back! Not yet a fabricholic with tons of stash? For either throw, you may purchase 1/2 yard cuts of fabric to make your fat quarters or you may purchase pre-cut fat quarters.

Supply List for both sizes:
Sewing Machine. (If you do not have a sewing machine, FACES does have a limited number of sewing machines. Please email info@fiberartscenter.com to confirm if one is available for you to use.)

3-4 Spools of coordinating or contrasting thread for quilting.

Straight Pins.

Class Fee $30

About Your Teacher, Lynn Davis

Lynn Davis has had a love for many fiber arts since childhood.  Quilts are particularly special to her for their rich history and tradition of being stitched with love and out of necessity to keep a family warm.  Lynn’s personal journey with quilts began in 2010 when she joined a local quilt guild.  Her favorite quilts to make are one that are fast, fun and done.  She now enjoys sharing the tips and techniques that she has tried with others, especially beginners, who want to tell their own story and wrap someone else in stitches of love and warmth.
