How Do We Do What We Do?

FACES is proud to be a community based organization that relies on the generosity of the people in the community to keep our doors open. It takes a number of amazing people volunteering their time to make FACES the amazing place it is today and will be tomorrow. To accomplish all of these tasks we have amassed a small group of volunteers that do everything from docent, organizing, editing, cleaning, and even teaching. An, this is the week to say thank you, to our group, and everyone in the country for giving time to the charity of their choice.

National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate people doing extraordinary things through service. Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week focuses national attention on the impact and power of volunteerism and service as an integral aspect of our civic leadership. The week draws the support and endorsement of the president, Congress, governors, mayors and municipal leaders, as well as corporate and community groups across the country.

So how does FACES show our appreciation? We often profile our volunteers in our bi-monthly newsletter, and always say thank you every time we see them. But we can, and will do more to let our volunteers know how much we need and value them, and the fact that they are willing to give of their own personal time to our organization. As a habitual volunteer myself, I can promise you that if you give your time to any organization that supports a cause you believe in, you will be rewarded and thanked every week not just this one week of the year.
